Spread over the next few months, you are challenged to tackle something you might always have wanted to do, but never quite got around to.
Competition Categories
1.
Short Story: Write a short
story – 5,000 words maximum
2.
Art:
Produce
a picture reflecting any aspect of Winsham or its surroundings.
Use any medium you like – pencil, fabric collage,
charcoal, gouache, watercolour, pastels, oils, etc.
Submit a photograph of
your picture or design as a jpeg attachment
3.
Music:
Compose
a piece of music - a song, a riff, or just a simple melody.
Upload your performance to YouTube, giving the link on your
application
4.
Poetry:
Write
a poem about any aspect of the current situation
5.
Gardens:
Portray
your garden in three photographs, taken this year. It is the
garden that is important, but you will need good photographs to
do it justice.
6.
Pets: Submit two photographs
showing your pet in two different moods.
7.
Wildlife:
Submit
a photograph of a wild animal, bird or insect seen within the
parish in 2020
8.
Photography: Submit a
photograph of the surrounding countryside or the village, taken
in 2020, if possible reflecting different light conditions and
weather
9.
Prayer:
Write
a prayer reflecting on the current situation
10.Baking
: Bake a ‘Corona
‘Cake -. Something different but delicious, possibly with world-wide associations.

required 11.Craft : Create something in wood, stone carving, clay or metal work. Send a photograph, with an indication of scale. No dimension exceeding 500 cms. The competition is open to anyone living in the parish of Winsham.
When submitting an entry-and this can only be done by e- mail,
please provide name,
address, and phone number. You can enter as many categories as you like, and you can put in multiple entries. Please make your entry when you are satisfied with it - do not leave it to the last moment-you can make further entries later, if you wish. No charge for entries. A small panel of judges, all located outside the parish, will award a prize for each category. Judges will not know the name of the entrant when judging so please do not place your name on the entry, only on the application e-mail, as instructed below. The names of the judging panel will be announced on the Parish Web site nearer the closing dates for the competition. Entries should be submitted digitally between 5th April and 31st of July2020 to jim.everard@winshamparishcouncil.org.uk. Please head your entry e-mail, in the 'Subject' area with Grand Challenge, followed by name of the category to which the entry relates e.g. 'Wildlife'. Then attach the file you are entering using 'Attachment'. Then include your name, address and telephone number in the body of the e-mail. There are no age limits-young or old, although we are working on a 'Junior Challenge' for younger residents before they reach their 'teens'. Details of this will become available shortly. The closing date for entries
will be 31st July. The
format for all pictures and photographs is jpg. and
included as attachments-not as 'copy and paste' items on the
application e-mail .
Musical entries should be downloaded on YouTube or similar, and
link given.
Written entries should be made saved as .pdf documents.
They should be submitted
as attachments
to your e-mail entry, and
not copied onto the
carrier email. Judges may ask to see finalists’ entries in Craft category. Category winners will each receive a Certificate, and winners will be announced on the Parish Web Site, at a date to be announced . Condition of entry is that while ownership of copyright remains with the person submitting the entry, Winsham Parish Council and its agents are allowed to make copies and publish pictures of entries for publicity purposes and general interest.
